Arcadia Festival of Bands 2008

Parade competitions are a big deal here in California - the bands and judges are ready to go.

Our grand marshals were Mr. and Mrs. Schreiner (long time dedicated volunteers) and our dedicated cheering squad - Doug, Chuck and Arlene.

Arcadia ready to march in the competition area and then again in the Rose Parade viewing area (the Rose Parade judges grade all the bands who have hopes to march in the Rose Parade sometime in the future).

Video of the parade march.

The Arcadia Festival of Bands is hosted by us - this is the 55th year - so Arcadia didn't compete in the actual competition.

This the Dana Middle School band and Matthew will be in it next year (can't march as a 6th grader, but they will have band each day and play in concerts). David, Angelica and Jennifer were all in the Dana Band together.

Our AFOB program for this year and the baritone section that David is in.

Angelica and her alto sax section and Jennifer with her tenor sax section.

A BEAUTIFUL sunset from the stands at the field show competition and another cheering section! = - )

Part 2 of the cheering section and a sun from one of the field shows.

This band fell asleep on the field at the end of their show and here comes Arcadia!

I went up into the nose bleed section for better video of the band.

A table full of trophies waiting to be presented and the student leaders from each band lined up to hear their scores.

The Mom with the Arcadia leaders is the Mother of a former Arcadia band member who was killed in the war - she presented the percussion award to the winner. Very touching tribute.

An awesome award ceremony and on our way out we ran into Jennifer with her friend, Lauren. It was a LONG and BUSY day, but another successful AFOB is the result!
