Happy 18th Bday David - part 1

Our family of 6 celebrated with David one day early at the Wood Ranch BBQ and Grill. David is planning a BIG celebration with his friends tomorrow.

A birthday sundae and presents!

A navigator so he won't get lost on his many adventures and some clothes from Grandpa and Grandma Hubbard. A fun celebration.

Ice on the Windows?

Okay, we live in Southern California and it isn't supposed to get that cold here - but guess what I woke up to the day after Christmas? Ice! That's our ice scraper that we've never used here - I had to use it this morning.

Here's a close up of the ice and a frozen leaf stuck to the window.

I was on my way to Target for the 7am open time the day after Christmas and I didn't want to be late so I just scraped a small area of the front window and the rear view window. On the way to Target I had to open the door at each intersection to see if there were any cars because the windows were still frozen shut and coated in ice. Crazy!

Merry Christmas 2008

Christmas morning dawned cold and wet - a perfect day to stay inside by the fire, open presents and enjoy family togetherness.

Time to open stockings and gifts.

A family picture on Christmas morning with Toby and Tigger.

Our entry way with all the cards, letters and pictures from family and friends - we love opening the mailbox each day and hearing all the news from afar.

Rockband 2 is a HUGE hit!
Phillip and Bobbi came over later in the day and joined in on the Rockband fun and I even scored a 99% on the drums (easy level, of course).

Time to check email, facebook and look at funny youtube videos. Later we opened presents from and to Phillip and Bobbi.

More gift opening and a table set for the Christmas dinner buffet.

Our planned dinner was Korean BBQ and we didn't let a little rain stop us - Doug bbq'ed in the garage (both doors were open and we used a fan to blow out the smoke - worked fine).

Time for dinner and visit from Santa John (my dad was going to shave before Christmas dinner and I asked him to keep the beard long enough for a Santa pic on Christmas day).

Time for scattergories.

Bobbi and Phillip won both games! It was a wonderful Christmas day! = - )

Christmas Eve

The tradition continues...each kid can open one gift on Christmas Eve.

David shopped in Chinatown and Matthew loved the fireworks that David gave him!

David volunteered to launch one on Christmas eve - there it goes...

After the kids were all in bed (finally) we were able to fill the stockings and put out the Santa gifts (yes, we still add one "all kids" gift under the tree from Santa). Yay, now we can go to sleep!

LA Holiday Celebration

Another fun tradition...the LA Country Holiday Celebration at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion.

Angelica helped Jennifer update her new cell phone while they were waiting in line and we listened to the outdoor entertainment.

Pretty tree and an ornament self-portrait.

More entertainment while the 4 of us waited in line (David was working and Matthew stayed at home with Grandma and Grandpa).

See the pretty clouds that the chinese dancers are dancing in?? well, the pretty clouds came down to where we were sitting and scared the kids, made the 1st few rows choke (that was us) and turned out to be pretty funny. = - )

It finally stopped when they realized their mistake and turned off the machines. The rest of the show was fogless.

Our hosts were different chefs from all over Los Angeles - these 2 guys were so funny! = - )

Adorable kids and great choirs.

The celebration always ends with "Silent Night." The crowd pic was taken when we arrived home to look at the tape - it shows us jingling our keys to a Christmas song during the celebration.

There we are again and one final shot in the lobby just before we left.

Outside at the fountain and in front of the Christmas tree.

When we arrived home we made sure to drive by Carmine's to see poor David at work. He was at the end of his shift and setting the tables for the next work day. He was happy to work and not have to sit through 6 hours of performances at the Holiday Celebration. = - )
