First Day of School 2009

First day of senior year for Angelica and Jennifer and 6th grade orientation for Matthew (he begins his middle school career tomorrow).
This is what the fire looked like from our house last night and this is what the sunrise looked like this morning - LOTS of smoke and ash.

Last day of school 2009!

Matthew and the rest of the 5th graders celebrated the end of elementary school at the park.
Doug was one of the grillers and the kids enjoyed a delicious lunch!
Matthew's 5th grade class pic.
Last day of school together for the Hubbard teenagers and the LAST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL FOR DAVID! = - )
Matthew's last day of elementary school - he ran out the door on his way to a fun day at his elementary school. Middle school here he comes!

Prom 2009 - Universal Studios Backlot!

This was the first year that Angelica and Jennifer went to the Prom.
David has been going to the Prom since his sophomore year.

This year they decided to go "old school" and drive themselves.

The Prom was on the Universal Studios backlot.

A very fun place to have a Prom!

Fun with friends!

Shakes at Mel's Diner!
And a fun dance floor!

Science Fair Project

Matthew decided to find out if Mentos candy would make more than just Diet Coke explode.

He discovered that all carbonated drinks will explode!

And tasted a few along the way!

As you can see, Matthew enjoyed himself! = - )

His science project was a success and a class favorite on demonstration day. Thankfully there wasn't a demonstation at Open House, but he did take a picture with his 5th grade teacher.

Field Trip Fun for Matthew!

At 6:45 am this morning Matthew and his 5th grade classmates arrived at school for a day of field trip fun! The sun was just coming up and we wish Matthew was as motivated to get to school every morning like he was today!

The charter buses were waiting to take the kids to Dana Point for the day.

This field trip is an intro to middle school because the school they will go to next year as brand new 6th graders is named, "Richard Henry Dana Middle School." The Pilgrim is a full size replica from the novel, "Two Years Before the Mast." I'm sure Matthew will come home tired and happy! = - )

Holiday Program 2008

The 53rd Annual Holiday Program was today at Matthew's elementary school. The band played (that's Matthew 4th from the right).

Matthew needs to work on his trumpet holding technique. = - )

Here is a short video clip of the band playing, "Jolly Old St. Nick."

Later the 5th grade sang 4 songs (that's Matthew on the left at the end of the row).

They look like they were having fun!

Another short video of them signing (yes, signing) "We Wish You A Merry Christmas."
