You Win Some, You Lose Some

We went to the 1st band competition of the year tonight. Most of the bands were a little over 100 members.

That's Arcadia (389 members) waiting to go on the field and ready for competition.

Here is the video I recorded (they still haven't learned the ending so their performance ends without any pizzazz). This 1st performance wasn't the best, but they did great considering how difficult the show is this year.

Our band leaders arriving for the award presentations. In our division (AAAA) there were 5 bands and we came in 5th place. = - ( Sad, but it was deserved and an important learning experience. Now it's time to get ready for Mt. Carmel (competition next Saturday).

High School Musical 3 Premiere!

Jennifer and a couple of her dedicated Disney Channel friends went to the High School Musical 3 premiere at USC a few days ago!

They arrived right after school to claim a spot near the front of the crowd.

Jennifer was able to get into the actual movie premiere - she was VERY HAPPY!

Matthew's First Pair of Glasses

I took Matthew to the optometrist today to pick up his 1st pair of glasses.

Here he is with the frames he chose early this week and trying on his new glasses - "Wow, everything is so clear!"

Before and after - Matthew is now the 4th Hubbard to wear glasses/contacts.

Cross Country Update

Today the boys and girls cross country teams competed in Griffith Park. Thanks to Taylor for the great pics I found on Facebook!

It was a very tough course, but Angelica still did very well!

Iron Man Movie Night!

Our Bible Study group came over for movie night last - Iron Man! David borrowed his sisters popcorn popper so that it would be an authentic movie night (can't have microwaved popcorn for movie night!)

Yum, butter! Nothing better than to stand around and watch popcorn pop.

Finally it was time to sit down and watch the movie (we even brought in our 2 garage couches) so everyone would have a couch seat! Amy took a great 2nd picture - everyone looks very intense!

Yes, Matthew is going to be Iron Man for halloween and he had to dress the part for the movie. BTW, here is our infamous photographer, Amy, who didn't get in any of the movie night pictures because she was behind the camera. Thanks Amy!

Homecoming Dance and Prank!

Here are the homecoming pics - David and his date, Shivani, and friends at the high school for the professional pics before the big event.

After pictures all 35 friends came over to our house for the pre-homecoming dinner.

The kids set up 5 tables and decorated them with candles.

Then the PARTY BUS arrived - that thing was HUGE! It had to be because they had 35 total in the group.

Chuck even made it to the backboard! David was kinda in shock about the whole prank and we didn't reveal a thing (they did eventually figure it all out).

Thankfully we asked all the friends to help move everything back in (the room is still a mess, but at least it isn't in the backyard!)
