The Hollywood Walk of Fame

We spent a few hours at the Hollywood Walk of Fame with our friends from Washington.

Bart even showed up for a visit. We had a fun-filled day with the East family.

Dancing with the Stars

We're watching "Dancing with the Stars" and there are a few favorites, but our sentimental favorite is Billy Ray Cyrus! Billy Ray is Miley Cyrus' father and they both star in Hannah Montana - a favorite Disney channel show. Jennifer even met Billy Ray during the Hannah Montana concert! Vote for Billy Ray! = - )

Youth Retreat Fun!

Our teenagers went to the our church youth retreat last weekend.

The Los Angeles Marathon

A beautiful sunny morning Los Angeles skyline on the way to Hollywood and the beginning of the LA Marathon.

This year we walked the half marathon with Angelica and Jennifer (actually they jogged/walked and finished 11 minutes before us!) Since the marathon began in Hollywood there were a lot of strange characters at the starting line.

Track meet highlights

Angelica's first race was the 400 meter - she came in 5th place. I just added a pic of the hurdlers because I liked the action shot. = - )

Angelica's next event was the 3200 meter race (2 miles). She did great - look at that great form towards the end of the race!

Track Season Has Begun

Angelica's first track meet was yesterday - she runs the mile and her time was 6.31. Angelica came in 4th place and the track team came in 1st place! I had to leave before her event (1600 meter) so that's why there are no running pics. = - ( At the next meet I'll take more than enough pictures!

Happy Birthday!

We celebrated a combined birthday tonight - Kathy's 43rd and Marianne's 76th!

Mother and Daughter - Doug only had 5 candles so each candle represented 23.8 years. = - )

Bike Ride in the Park

Matthew and his Cub Scout friends enjoyed a warm southern California bike ride at the park - yes, we love our 85 degree weather in February! = - )

Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

We just attended a taping of the new show, "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?" It was a fun show that will air for the first time at the end of the month. The first contestant we saw won $300,000 and she wasn't smarter than the 5th graders!

Rose Parade 2008!

The Arcadia High School Band is going to be in the 2008 Rose Parade - one of only 11 bands in the parade! That means David, Angelica and Jennifer will be in the Rose Parade!! The announcement was made at the Marching Band Finale Show on Jan. 20th.

As soon as we saw the red coat, roses and flag we KNEW it was a Rose Parade announcement! The theme will be "Passport to the World's Celebrations" and this will be a very special Rose Parade for us.

Here are a few pictures from the annual Spaghetti Dinner show - it's the finale for the marching band season and with the Rose Parade announcement it was a very special finale!

The color guard did a great job and the sophomore/junior drill down was fun.
